Battersea Park - Festival Gardens
"In 1951 the northern parts of the park were transformed into the "Pleasure Gardens" as part of the Festival of Britain celebrations with a new water-garden and fountains". Link
The park was first laid out in 1856-57 by dumping what was excavated from the Royal Victoria Dock into what was then unreclaimed swamp. [VISITOR's LONDON, 1973]
