ND2170 : Magellan Ragwort at Dunnet Bay beach

taken 20 years ago, near to Dunnet, Highland, Scotland

Magellan Ragwort at Dunnet Bay beach.
Magellan Ragwort at Dunnet Bay beach.
Magellan Ragwort (Senecio smithii) grows in profusion at this location, as well as on Orkney, Shetland and a few other sites in Scotland - but only in about sixty 1 km squares in total. The species was evidently introduced from South America by returning sailors.
