Built in 1802. At the end off its working life it operated with only two sails supplemented by an agricultural traction engine. Finally damaged in a severe storm after the first world war.

This street is much quieter these days now that the vast bulk of the traffic goes along the A55 expressway which runs parallel with A5. For decades, with the sheer volume of traffic, Gaerwen was a notorious bottle-neck.
